“Badminton and Football for All” at Rivne Lyceum No. 12
Veterans, service members in rehabilitation, schoolchildren and their families played together — in the hall and on the football court.
On 25 February 2024, Rivne Lyceum No. 12 hosted the “Badminton and Football for All” sport-and-health festival. War veterans, service members in rehabilitation, their family members, children and young people, people with disabilities and sports lovers all came together in one space.
In the sports hall people played badminton — standing, seated on chairs and in wheelchairs. On the outdoor court there were football sessions and games, including for players on crutches after amputations. The format and rules were adapted to each group so that everyone who wanted to could take part.
The festival set out to build barrier-free connections between people through sport and to show that sport is open to everyone and brings people together. The events were initiated by coach Mykola Diedovets, Vice President of the Badminton Federation of the Rivne region. In 2024 the “Football for All” festivals were run together with the Rivne Regional Football Association, “Veteran Space”, the “Invasport” centre, the regional war veterans’ hospital and Rivne City Council.
